The organizers of the “For Fair Elections” rallies in Moscow intend to hold two rallies on February 26. Sergei Udaltsov, one of the members of the event’s organizing committee and coordinator of the Left Front movement, reported this on his microblog.

According to him, “the organizing committee decided to hold two events in Moscow - a “living ring” on Sadovoy at 14:00, and then a “farewell to Putin’s winter” in the form of a flash mob.”

“The main rally “For Fair Elections” will be in Moscow on March 5 at 19:00 in the center, and a huge procession is planned for March 10,” S. Udaltsov wrote on Twitter.

One of the founders of the League of Voters, journalist Sergei Parkhomenko, announced the action on the Garden Ring the day before, on February 9. The organizers of the event intend to close the Garden Ring with a line of people holding hands, which will require at least 34 thousand people.

“This is not a rally. This is not a demonstration. On this day we gather without posters, slogans and speeches. We will stand and be silent, shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand. We will form an unbreakable human chain - our common “white circle” that we will close in the center of Moscow, around the Kremlin. On the day of Forgiveness Sunday, a week before the presidential elections, we really need to see that there are many of us and that we are together,” said S. Parkhomenko.

Meanwhile, opponents of the fighters for fair elections also intend to hold their rally. The campaign headquarters of Russian presidential candidate Vladimir Putin is planning an action on February 23 under the slogan “Let’s Defend the Fatherland!” The expected number of participants is up to 200 thousand people, the route is along Tverskaya Street to Manezhnaya Square, where the rally will take place.

However, the capital's authorities doubt that such a large-scale event can take place in the center of Moscow. This was stated by Deputy Mayor of the capital Alexander Gorbenko, pointing out that it will be necessary to significantly limit road traffic and make significant efforts to ensure the safety of city residents.

The opposition plans to hold two rallies at once on February 26 in Moscow
