Press secretary of the Nashi movement Kristina Potupchik denies that she or any of the youth movement commissars are involved in DDoS attacks on the website of the Kommersant newspaper. “Any statements to the contrary will be considered libel and will be subject to appropriate legal action,” the spokeswoman threatened in a blog post.

K. Potupchik drew attention to the fact that the general director of the Kommersant Publishing House, Demyan Kudryavtsev, who the day before announced the movement’s involvement in hacker attacks, made his statements referring to a document found on the Internet. However, the document does not contain any direct evidence proving the involvement of “nashi” in the attacks. She noted that the document found on the Internet is not subject to consideration by the court as evidence.

The press secretary expressed the hope that D. Kudryavtsev has sufficiently competent lawyers who will stop the general director of the publishing house from making further harsh judgments and accusations against her. It is symbolic that previously members of the youth movement repeatedly referred to information found on the Internet to organize PR campaigns against famous politicians and public figures.

Let us recall that the day before D. Kudryavtsev said that he knew the customers of the DDoS attacks on the publication’s website in March 2008. In his blog on February 9, he wrote that “anonymous solved this problem instead of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”

The head of the publishing house is referring to the correspondence between the head of Rosmolodezh Vasily Yakemenko and the press secretary of the Nashi movement Kristina Potupchik, posted by hackers on the largest Russian file hosting services. “Now we know who ordered the illegal actions, and although ignorance of the law does not excuse us from responsibility, the correspondence of Nashi clearly indicates that they understood the illegality of their actions, they were simply confident of their impunity,” noted D. Kudryavtsev. According to him, Kommersant will demand that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs initiate a criminal case against K. Potupchik and “the rest of the persons involved in this case.”

One of K. Potupchik’s letters from 2008, published by hackers the other day, substantiates the need to “create unbearable conditions for Kommersant.” According to the text of the email, the commissars of the Nashi movement were offended by the newspaper for the article “Nashi” became “strangers” and , in particular, on the definition of “jubilant gopota” given in it.
