The German ruling coalition could not decide on the new president

The search for a candidate for the post of new president of Germany instead of the resignation of Christian Wulf is drawn.

According to ITAR-TASS, the leaders of the parties from the coalition ruling to the Germany-the Christian Democratic Union (CDS), the Christian Social Union (CSS) and the free Democratic Party (SVDP)-according to the results of negotiations in the department of the federal chancellor, could not come to a consensus regarding the candidate, which would organize opposition parties.

Earlier, the Chancellor of Angela Merkel declared the desire to find such an applicant for the highest state post. Social democrats and "green", in turn, have already talked about their readiness for negotiations, but they demand that the candidate be not from the current Cabinet of Ministers of Germany.

According to the Constitution, if the president retires ahead of schedule, then the new head of state must be selected within 30 days, that is, in this case until March 18. At the same time, the chairman of the Federal Constitutional Court, 48-year-old Andreas Foscule, the choice of which was stopped by the ruling coalition, refused to participate in the presidential race.

After that, analysts announced preferred chances of a human rights activist from the former GDR Joachim Gauk. He participated in the 2010 presidential election, but then lost to Christian Wulf.

In addition to Foscule, the coalition led by Chancellor Angel Merkel holds on a pencil of the former chairman of the Council of the Evangelical Church of Germany Berlin Bishop Wolfgang Huber, Frankfurt Oberthmist Petra Roth, as well as the former minister of Environment Claus Tepfer.
