The Japanese company Fujitsu is believed to present the first flagship products in a week at the MWC 2012 exhibition in Barcelona, RIA Novosti reports citing The Financial Times newspaper. In Japan, the company accounts for about 20% of the smartphone market, but consumers there are increasingly choosing smartphones from foreign manufacturers - Apple, Samsung, LG - instead of smartphones from Japanese brands, which is forcing local companies to look for new markets.
Fujitsu has been producing smartphones on Windows Mobile and Android for a long time, but only for the domestic market. At the same time, many of its models have very interesting characteristics: water protection, high-resolution screens, owner identification by fingerprint, etc.
For example, in December last year, the company announced the Arrows ES IS12F Android smartphone with a body thickness of only 6.7 mm, which allows it to be considered one of the thinnest Android smartphones in the world.
According to the newspaper, it is not yet known on which platform “European” Fujitsu smartphones will work. Previously, company representatives also stated that in 2013 Fujitsu will introduce smartphones for the US market.
Last December, another Japanese smartphone manufacturer, Panasonic, announced that it would enter the European smartphone market in March 2012, and then into the markets of other regions.
The first Panasonic smartphone presented in Europe will be a model with a 4.3-inch OLED display. The device will have a thin body with protection from moisture and dust, and will also support NFC contactless payment technology. The device will run on the Google Android platform.
Representatives of Panasonic suggest that by April 2013 the company will be able to sell about 1.5 million smartphones in Europe.
