The new director of the Contemporary Theater was appointed tennis player-champion

A new director has been appointed to the Maintenance Theater, the Moscow Department of Culture reports. The new director was Vladimir Bakulev, Interfax reports.

Bakulev, the champion of the USSR, the champion of Russia, the multiple winner of all-Union and international tournaments, since 1982-1989 he was a member of the USSR national team under the leadership of Shamil Tarpishchev.

At the end of his sports career, Bakulev organized and headed the VIP tennis club, the president of which has been from the moment of its foundation.

He was an adviser to the chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism in 1996-1997, an adviser to the deputy prime minister of the Moscow Government in 1998-2000. In 2007-2009 he was the president of the Norilsk Nickel IFC. Since 1998 - organizer of international tennis tournaments with the participation of world sports, politics and culture stars.

Born in 1965 in Moscow. A graduate of the State Central Institute of Physical Culture (now Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Bakulev came to the place of Leonid Erman, who, together with Oleg Efremov, stood at the origins of the Contemporary, was its first director. Twenty years later, in 1976, together with Efremov built a new Moscow Art Theater, and in 1989 he returned to his native theater.
