She came to the theater of the Soviet Army immediately after GITIS. The legendary Alexei Dmitrievich Popov took her to the theater, he liked her - and how could this high, piercing, strong girl, ready to work around the clock? She worked: she tapped her tag, entered the cage with tigers, crammed other people's roles, conquered her own: the beginning of her path immediately became a swift aside.

The impeccable Kasatkin, by her own admission, never allowed herself to compromise her husband. The very thought that someone will laugh at her husband, took her into horror. An impeccable wife - she became his first and main actress. What she did not play in the theater, played in his films. The whole world repertoire, all possible role and genres. They started with Shakespeare (“taming the obstinate”), but the first, of course, was Anya Morozova in the first Soviet series “We cause fire on ourselves”.

“Ah, girls, war, war goes already to the Urals! Ah, girls, spring, spring, and youth disappeared! " -rushed from the open Moscow windows, from black and white TVs. Anya Morozova, a partisan and heroine, next to her are real foreigners, illegal Poles, a sullen confused pilot Alexander Lazarev and the insidious policeman Rolan Bykov. "Eh, Mor-Rozov!" - the Soviet schoolchildren repeated after the "Mr. Tereh". The real Anna Morozova posthumously became the hero of the Soviet Union, the artist Kasatkina became a folk favorite.

Kolosov knew that he could entrust her of any role. The painting “Remember your name” became a real Calvary. Filming in Auschwitz. Farewell scene with a little son. She asked to leave her for the night alone in a camp, turned into a museum, asked to open that part of the museum where the mountains of children's shoes were dumped. She sat and sorted out small boots all night, she wanted to guess how many years the child was, for whose hand he held on to when he entered the concentration camp. In the theater, one of her best and favorite roles is Leidy in the play on Tennessess Williams "Orpheus descends to Hell." She played her for twelve years. And for all twelve years she listened on the day of the performance of Ray Charles-it was this music that the son, obsessed with Jazz, once slipped her and, not assuming it, gave her the key to the role that she painfully sought.

A pure line is a huge clumsy cruiser of the Army Theater (one and a half thousand places!) Holding several outstanding women on his kilometer deck: Lyudmila Fetisova, Dobrzhanskaya Love, Nina Sazonova and, of course, Lyudmila Kasatkin. Here she once changed Fetisov as the intelligence officer of the Nila Snezhko in the "Drummark", here she played the commissar in the "optimistic tragedy", took congratulations here and suffered in anticipation of roles, performed at meetings and argued with the directors.

Together with Kolosov, they released three acting courses in GITIS - Kasatkintsev. Lyudmila Ivanovna here, in GITIS, was an adornment of the acting department. Each of its appearance at the institute is an acting exit. She came to classes in a trouser suit and in some inconceivable maces, thrown on one shoulder and flowing behind her along the erased institute tile. Students, like boys-pairs, now and then picked up this royal silk from the floor, and she regally nodded to them as a sign of gratitude ... That is another performance!

An amazing generation: out of hunger, from poverty, from war, from repressions, who came out of purge, they have not lost either dignity, nobility, or faith. Some inner purity came from their family, maybe there were no “skeletons” there? Never complained. The hardest for a creative person: when you are not yet old, there is still full of strength, there is something to say and you even know how - and you have already been sent to history. Here she remained the queen and always abruptly cut off her husband if mournful notes appeared in his intonations.

They made their last performance again - the Strange Mrs. Savage last time went on stage in May last year. And now there is silence.
