On the morning of February 22, on the Gudauta-Sukhumi highway, they tried to kill the President of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab, for the sixth time. They have been trying to kill him since 2005. From the first to the fourth assassination attempt, Ankvab was prime minister. The fifth was already in the vice-presidential position: Ankvab's house in the village of Lykhny, which will not be erased in the memory of descendants thanks to the brand of wonderful wine of the same name, was hit with a grenade launcher. Now Ankvab is at the pinnacle of power, but this doesn’t just stop enemies - they planned the most daring assassination attempt, mixing a landmine and machine guns. Ankvab did not look for "organizers and performers." “Pique vests” in Moscow and Sukhumi did this with habitual ease for him: “Forces interested in destabilizing the situation in the republic attempted on the president’s life” ... Without thinking about the fact that in truly stable states there are six attempts in a row on one there are no leaders of it...
Personally, I like Alexander Zolotinskovich Ankvab. He does not try to hide from ill-wishers in some gilded ivory tower for several million dollars in the suburbs of Sukhumi, but continues to travel to work from his home in the village with the heady name of Lykhny. He is the only politician in Abkhazia about whom no one has yet said a bad word, even in Tbilisi - and this, you see, is also a criterion. The only exception was the ex-Minister of Defense of Georgia, Tengiz Kitovani, whose closest associates in the “dashing 90s” broke into Tbilisi at the house of my father’s elderly friend, in the distant Soviet past, Izvestia’s staff correspondent for Georgia, with the words: “Give fifty thousand (dollars), otherwise we will take the grandson.” A friend of his father asked for at least a little time, he was graciously given a week ...
Before last year's presidential elections in Abkhazia, Kitovani, who spent time in a Georgian prison and moved to Russia for permanent residence (which responds with deathly silence to Abkhazia's requests to extradite him), publicly wrote Ankvab into "Georgian intelligence agents." This did not prevent Ankvab from winning. But for me personally at that moment everything became clear: the fact that Ankvab was objectionable to someone in Moscow, and why Kitovani was not extradited to Abkhazia, and finally, that the traces of the organizers of all attempts on Ankvab should not be looked for in Abkhazia ...

Ankvab hoped and hopes that it is possible to rebuild the national finances under a kleptocratic guardian
”
Many years ago, Ankvab and his friend Sergei Bagapsh realized that the state can only come into existence when it starts accumulating its own budget instead of squandering someone else's. Here Eduard Kokoity, judging by the statistics of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, does not think so. In his heart, he himself does not believe in the future of South Ossetia as a state, and therefore is ready to attach this problematic simulacrum to Russia.
Ankvab - believes. In recent years, he has sought to put things in order in the register of all types of property. But the more stubbornly Russia butted heads for Abkhazia with Georgia, the more distinct was the signal that the Russian security forces sent to Sukhumi: "Sovereignty in exchange for property." Ankvab hoped to the last - and, apparently, still hopes - that it is possible to rebuild the national finances with a kleptocratic guardian, who even in the international arena plays by the rules. And every time he got an assassination attempt.
Literally a day after Ankvab "discussed" the sixth assassination attempt with President Medvedev, who offered all kinds of assistance, followed - oh, not by chance! - the order of the head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov to subordinates to get rid of property abroad. Something tells us that the Kremlin already considers it politically costly to cover up "Abkhazian scams". Losing Ankvab, and even after the scandal with Alla Dzhioeva, is already too much. Most likely, now Ankvab will be “helped” to prevent another assassination attempt. But never to build a normal state in Abkhazia. For this, something must happen in Russia itself. What some colorblind people see exclusively in orange tones ...
