British programmer feeds a dog through Twitter (video)

The British programmer and IT consultant NET Morris invented an electronic system that allows you to remotely feed pets using Twitter. Morris came up with her specifically for his dog Toby.

In his system, the inventor used the Nanode microcontroller, a LCD screen from the old Dell laser printer and a step engine from the HP Deskjet 500 printer, RBC Daily reports.

Each message transmits a signal to Nanode. Then the step engine “comes to life” and opens the hatch that throws a portion of food for the animal that enters the bowl. Then the digital camera takes the picture and sends it to the owner as a sign of confirmation that the "operation" was successful.

Until recently, any owner of the Twitter account could feed Toby by sending a message to the user @FeedToby .

Due to the fact that too many people wanted to feed Toby, Net had to limit the operation of the electronic installation so that his favorite did not begin to suffer from obesity. At the moment, the inventor is engaged in patenting his device.
