The owner of an iPhone 4S sued Apple for allegedly exaggerating the capabilities of the Siri voice assistant in commercials. The Wall Street Journal writes about this.

In the ad, Siri helps the user "make appointments, find restaurants, master guitar chords and tie a tie." In reality, the assistant either does not understand the words addressed to her or, after a long “thinking,” gives incorrect instructions, the statement of claim says.

The claim states that the plaintiff, New York resident Frank M. Fazio, was unable to get Siri to get directions to the desired location or find the desired store.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court in California on March 6. For placing false advertising, the plaintiff demands compensation from Apple, the amount of which is not specified.

The Siri assistant is present in the iPhone 4S smartphone, which was introduced in October 2011. It allows you to control the device by voice, and is also capable of providing answers to user requests (routing, information about weather and quotes, and so on).

Siri recognizes natural speech - when “communicating” with it, the user does not have to use pre-approved commands. The assistant supports English, German, French and Japanese, but does not always successfully understand users with an accent.
