The opposition movement “Breakthrough”, after the failed “White Ring” action on March 5, during which it was planned to form a living ring around the Kremlin, plans to hold night vigils on Manezhnaya Square on the night of March 17-18. This is stated in the movement's press release received by Interfax .

“On March 17, from 23.00 on Manezhnaya Square near the Zhukov monument, we plan to hold night vigils in the form of single pickets. Each of us will spend half an hour in the night square with white flowers, white balloons and other white paraphernalia,” the press release says.

It also reports that the action should last until seven o'clock in the morning on March 18.

“We are going to do this peacefully and without weapons; in our hands there will be nothing more menacing than a flower and a balloon,” movement activists emphasize.

The “White Ring” rally around the Kremlin was supposed to take place on the evening of March 5. Its participants planned to come as close as possible to the Kremlin and form a living ring around it. However, the action did not take place because the police cordoned off the territory adjacent to the Kremlin.

Earlier on March 5, the Moscow prosecutor's office sent a number of organizers of opposition rallies an official warning about the inadmissibility of violating the law during these events scheduled for the evening of that day. One of those to whom this warning was addressed was Boris Nemtsov , who organized the failed White Ring action. Even earlier , the FSO officially announced that it would stop any attempt to hold an uncoordinated action near the Kremlin .

The reaction of law enforcement agencies to the new initiative of the Breakthrough movement has not yet been reported.
