The Supreme Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Katherine Ashton demanded that the EU members return his ambassadors to Minsk within a week. It is reported by AFP with reference to the diplomatic circles of the EU. Ashton believes that the ambassadors should return to Minsk before the start of the summit of the heads of the Foreign Ministry of the EU countries, which is scheduled for March 22-23. At this meeting, new sanctions will probably be imposed against Minsk.
The ambassadors of 27 EU member states were recalled from Belarus at the end of February. The EU then introduced the next sanctions against Minsk: the “black list” of officials who are prohibited by the entrance of the European Union was expanded by 20 people. In response, Minsk returned diplomats from Warsaw and Brussels to his homeland.
Today, we recall, the leadership of the European Parliament and Pase turned to Alexander Lukashenko with a request to have mercy on the terrorists who organized an explosion in the Minsk metro. Politicians draw attention to the fact that the process above them did not comply with international standards, as well as that Belarus remains the last country on the continent, where the death penalty is used.
