Proton-M successfully brought to orbit an American intelligence satellite-22


On March 26, at 07.40.32 Moscow time, in accordance with the flight cyclogram after separation from the Breeze-M accelerated unit, the Intellation-22 spacecraft was displayed into target orbit. Management of the spacecraft was transferred to the launch to the customer.

The IntelSAT-22 spacecraft weighing 6.4 tons was created by Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems by order of the International Communications Operator Intelsat Corp. The satellite will be used to ensure the connection of users of Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East with the possibility of establishing communication with Europe. In total, there will be 48 transponders of the C-band on board the satellite and 24 transponders of the Ku band. Intelsat-22 also has on board the special equipment of the microwave range for the Armed Forces of Australia, RIA Novosti reports.
