“Live by poetry without understanding poetry” (B. Ryzhiy)
Over the past year, completely unnoticed by them, there has been a drift in the preferences of the poets. It has become no longer fashionable to write like Brodsky; the dry St. Petersburg school with its decadent ferment has imperceptibly faded away. The latest issues of Arion became official confirmation of this phenomenon.
What was the reason for this? Only fashion. It is also possible that the Rhine “blessed” the then still living Boris the Red. That truly talented author, unfortunately, died. And all this taken together in some confusing way led to a rearrangement of landmarks.
What's next? Nothing good either. Thousands of authors will try, instead of imitating a Roman friend, to depict a style without abstruse reflections on the vanities of all things and talk about simple things, but just as unsuccessfully. After all, you can calmly show the author’s stupidity even in simple texts, the lack of taste and proportion - without “vignettes of a false essence” and all sorts of intellectual exercises. The number of “humorous women” will increase, which in itself is funny. But the number of hysterical girls in poetry should remain unchanged, this is a constant quantity and more indestructible than the Chinese and cockroaches.
It's a pity. At least the imitators of the dry St. Petersburg school at least tried to be smarter... For all their artificiality.
