The searches of the head of the Islamic Committee, Heydar Dzhemal, were carried out as part of an investigation into a case initiated earlier under Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism) and Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for extremist activities). This was reported by the public relations center of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

According to the intelligence services, on behalf of Yusuf Al-Iyeri, an article “The Role of Women in Jihad” was published on the Internet, in which the author gives examples of the participation of women professing Islam in terrorist actions, including against military personnel in Chechnya. , and encourages readers to follow their example. The conclusion of the Institute of Forensic Science of the Center for Special Equipment of the FSB confirmed that this article contains calls within the framework of ideological struggle, as well as statements recognizing the practice of terrorism as requiring imitation.

It was established that the article was posted on the site from a computer installed in the office of the interregional public movement "Islamic Committee", whose leader is G. Dzhemal.

The day before, the FSB conducted searches at the places of actual residence of G. Dzhemal and at the place of his permanent registration for the presence of “extremist literature.” At the same time, the head of the Islamic Committee claimed that he was being persecuted for political reasons.
