Sberbank reported the fact of unauthorized debits from a number of card accounts. The credit institution asks its clients to comply with security measures, RIA Novosti reports .

The bank’s press service reported that “the identified cases are isolated and related to the debiting of funds from accounts through mobile operators.” “At the moment, a constant dialogue has been established with clients to resolve the situation. Negotiations are underway with mobile operators on joint additional security measures,” the representative of the credit institution emphasized.

Deputy Speaker of the State Duma from the LDPR faction Igor Lebedev was the first to report a hacker attack on Sberbank card accounts on Thursday on his Twitter microblog. “For the second day, Sberbank credit cards are subject to a hacker attack; three thousand rubles are being hacked and money is being transferred. I’m blocking the cards,” the politician wrote.

Sberbank called on clients to be vigilant: “the bank once again draws the attention of its clients to the importance of observing the security measures recommended by the bank when handling plastic cards and asks not to transfer card data, including the code word, to third parties.”

Last week, law enforcement agencies detained a group of hackers involved in 27 thefts of funds from Sberbank clients totaling more than 10 million rubles. The group’s involvement in the theft of funds from clients of other commercial banks in the amount of more than 30 million rubles was also established.

The gang, which committed thefts through remote banking systems by infecting computers with malware, was detained with the assistance of the Sberbank security department and the security department of its Moscow bank.

In total, the group included eight people who, according to preliminary data, were able to steal about 60 million rubles over six months. The alleged leader of the group has been arrested during the investigation; the remaining participants are under recognizance not to leave.
