The authorities of the small Austrian city of Leonding demolished the tombstone from the grave of the parents of Adolf Hitler, the mayor of the city Valter Bruner said on Friday. According to him, this decision was made by one of Hitler's relatives. He did not want the grave to become a place of pilgrimage to neo -Nazis.

The mayor noted that neo -Nazis and extremists often visited the grave of Hitler's parents who left flowers on it and shouted Nazi slogans, Interfax reports.

At the same time, the Autrianship National Television and Right television and radio company, with reference to the priest Kurt Pitterchacher, specified that local residents, as well as human rights activists and anti -fascists, spoke with the initiative to eliminate the grave. And permission to eliminate the grave was received from the distant relative of the Fuhrer, who abandoned the right to own the cemetery plot.

The grave plate was removed on March 28. The remains of Hitler's parents were not exhumed, RBC reports.

Alois and Clara Hitler died in 1903 and 1907, respectively, and were buried in the cemetery in Leonding. Adolf Hitler lived in this city from 1898 to 1905. Having come to power, the Fuhrer regularly came to Leonding and visited the grave of his parents.
