Togliatti deputy is suspected of beating a journalist

A criminal case has been initiated against a Duma deputy of the Togliatti city district, suspected of beating a journalist. The case was initiated under the article “battery causing physical pain” (Part 1 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

“According to the investigation, on February 24, 2012, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the suspect, while in the conference hall of the Vega TDK, located on Yubileinaya Street in the city of Togliatti, Samara Region, during a quarrel with a representative of the media, on the grounds of suddenly personal hostility that arose, he was beaten, causing him physical pain,” the press service of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Samara Region reported on Friday.

Currently, investigative actions and operational search activities are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. The criminal investigation continues.
