On Friday, police officers are checking the headquarters of both candidates for the post of mayor of Yaroslavl to ensure compliance with the law when spending election funds.
“First of all, it is necessary to find out whether the election fund has been exceeded. In this regard, employees of the Department of Economic Crimes arrived at the headquarters of the candidates to check the financial documentation,” Alexander Shikhanov, head of the information and public relations department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Yaroslavl region, told Interfax .
He explained that the audit is being carried out in connection with the city election commission receiving a request to check the legality of spending money from the election funds of candidates for the position of mayor.
