On March 30, the Board of Directors of OJSC Bashneft approved the strategy for managing oil service organizations. This is stated in the company's press release .

In accordance with the document, service subdivisions remain at Bashneft, which are an integral part of production (refinery service; communications and IT; scientific and technical work; energy service).

Also in 2012, the company will form a new oilfield service holding based on market-oriented enterprises specializing in drilling, well repair, production of oilfield equipment, mechanical services in production, capital, road construction and transport.

In the future, the assets included in the holding will be transferred outside of Bashneft “to improve the efficiency of their activities and develop a competitive environment, which is in line with global industry practice.”

“Potential buyers of these enterprises will have to take responsibility for maintaining social guarantees for their workforce,” the company said.

Earlier it became known that Bashneft planned to complete the optimization of service enterprises by the end of 2011. As a result of the consolidation, from 70 service LLCs employing 31,000 people, 22-25 enterprises with a staff of 28,000 people should be formed.

Service enterprises were created in the middle in 2004-2005; they are not structural divisions of Bashneft, but use its property complex.

The sale of service assets is a general trend in the oil industry; Gazprom Neft recently completed the disposal of service assets, and TNK-BP 2 years ago.
