Cultural ignorance

Yesterday I chatted with a 14-year-old smart and subtle boy - the son of a close friend. They had just “passed” the Decembrists. I asked who was remembered. He didn't remember a single name.
Stop deceiving yourself and saying that today’s children are just like us, but they don’t read much. They are, for the most part, cultural ignoramuses. And without culture there can be no morality. Or rather, maybe, but in most cases they simply will not know what is bad, indecent, vulgar and immoral. Not because they are like that themselves, but because they DON’T KNOW.
Even outside normal freedom, morality can exist. Outside of culture it is barbarism. Most of today's young people - and this must be admitted - are civilized barbarians. They know a lot about computers and plastic cards, but not a damn thing about their history, literature, music and painting. They are monkeys with an iPhone instead of a banana.
Therefore, we must not be ashamed to pronounce a verdict - what we have with young people and their lack of culture is a national catastrophe. We need to shout about this and do something to the best of our ability. Intervene in the situation. Save children. Cultural education, as an antidote to barbarism, has not yet been canceled. Otherwise, it is clearly not our names that will be written on the ruins of culture.
