Dmitry Medvedev introduced the candidacy of Sergei Shoigu to the Moscow Regional Duma to give him the powers of the Governor of the Moscow Region, RIA Novosti reports with reference to a source in the Kremlin. A source in the Moscow Region said that Shoigu was planned to be considered on Thursday.
Last week, United Russia offered Sergey Shoigu, the first deputy chairman of the Moscow Region, Igor Parkhomenko and the head of Reutov, Alexander Khodyrev, as the governor of the Moscow Region. Earlier, Kommersant reported that the list of candidates for the post of head of the Moscow Region has already been determined. According to the publication, Boris Gromov will be replaced by a federal level politician in this post.
A source in the regional government said that he does not really understand how “how to position himself” Shoigu: “He is an excellent business executive, he has 500 thousand subordinates. But he has experience resolving extreme situations, and here we are not needed by operational decisions, but the ability to agree with federal and municipal authorities.” Boris Gryzlov, in his opinion, is a federal politician, "he will need to hold a line between Moscow and the Moscow region to become an independent subject of management."
The main task of the new governor will be the completion of the Big Moscow project. The implementation of the project began in 2011. As part of the Moscow project, part of the region of 160 thousand hectares of land was transferred. At the same time, decisions have not yet been made on the transfer of objects of education, healthcare to Moscow, and most importantly, compensation by the municipal revenues near Moscow.
Last week, Boris Gromov appealed to the Supreme Council of United Russia with a request not to consider him as a candidate for the post of governor of the region for the next term. "The term of my powers is expiring in May, I have been leading the Moscow region for 12 years and I believe that this is quite enough," he said. The powers of Gromov end on May 11.
