Today the past is being changed in Novosibirsk.
The building of the former transit prison is being demolished.
It could remind those living today of the crimes of the organization that gave Russia Vladimir Putin and his thieving Chekist junta.
From 1929 to 1951, the building located at the intersection of Narymskaya and 1905 Goda streets (no. 69) housed the Novosibirsk investigative, transit and executive prison. A kind of Siberian center of Stalinist repressions. Hundreds of thousands of prisoners passed through this prison further east, to Kolyma and Dallag.
Tens of thousands in the basements of this house received a bullet in the back of the head from the Motherland.
Today this prison, this monument to crimes against humanity committed by security officers, is being demolished.
How the Ipatiev mansion, in which the family of the last Russian emperor Nikolai Romanov was shot, was demolished by the then first secretary of the Sverdlovsk regional committee B. Yeltsin. Yeltsin later regretted following orders from above.
This time there were no instructions from above.
The sale of the monument to terror and its victims is an initiative of the administration of the Novosibirsk region. Will Putin's Gauleiter Vasily Yurchenko regret his decision?
The Russian Orthodox Church, which offered to take this building into its own hands and create a museum there, was refused - the Church did not offer any official payment, nor did it give a “feel” to those who made the decision to sell.
A desperate single picket against the demolition was held today by Alexander arudnitsky Rudnitsky, chairman of the coordination council of the Novosibirsk "Memorial"
Behind the fence you can see a working excavator, loading the rubble of a destroyed building into continuously approaching trucks.
The still preserved part of the former prison, facing the intersection of the street. Narymskaya and 1905.
This is a view of the destroyed monument from the street. Narymskaya.
Maybe it’s true that a former prison doesn’t belong here? After all, the government highway runs along Narymskaya, the route to the city center from the “regional committee dachas”, where, when arriving in Novosibirsk, both Putin himself and other prominent figures of the Chekist junta stop.
