Medvedev fired the Kostroma governor

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev dismissed the governor of the Kostroma region Igor Slyunyaev. The head of the region, as stated in the decree , left of his own free will.

The President appointed Sergei Sitnikov as a temporarily acting governor. Now Sitnikov is held by the post of head of Roskomnadzor.

Sergey Sitnikov was born in 1963 in Kostroma. He headed Roskomnadzor in December 2008. Before that, he was the deputy head of Rossvyaznadzor. From 1998 to 2007, Sitnikov headed the Kostroma branch of the VGTRK, at the same time in 2002-2004 he was the director of the Kaliningrad GRK.

The retired Igor Slyunyaev took up the post of governor in 2007. Unlike Sitnikov, he is from under Omsk. Before moving to Kostroma, he was a senator from the government of the Altai Territory, even earlier - an adviser to the speaker of the SF. In the early 2000s, Slyunyaev was the deputy minister of transport.
