Photo: ITAR-TASS Text: Alena Sadovskaya The main mystery of the Astrakhan hunger strike is why residents of the city do not massively go outside in support of Oleg Shein and do not protect honest elections. One of the reasons for this is the information blockade - local television channels have long reported nothing about the protest of Shein and his supporters. PublicPost spoke with ordinary Astrakhan and found out what they know about the hunger strike and how they relate to events in their city.
Astrakhan was asked 5 questions:
1) What do you know about the political events that are now taking place in Astrakhan?
2) How do you feel about the hunger strike of Oleg Shein?
3) Have you heard anything about falsification in the mayor’s elections?
4) From what sources did you learn about the hunger strike of Shein?
5) How did the previous mayor of Bozhenov, who recently distinguished himself in the scandal around the trip of Volgograd officials to Italy ?
Vadim, 34 years old, an electrician in a large company
1) Someone is starving against the elections, which were supposedly unfair for them.
2) Sheina I know. He is always so opposition in our person, sets up people against the authorities - he tuned against Bozhenov, here. He also has his own newspaper, a “resident”, in my opinion, where he negatively speaks out against the policy of the mayor and the governor. Well, I don’t know the governor, but the mayor is constantly. But I don’t know anything especially, I only know that he is always against everything.
3) The fact that the elections are falsified - I cannot say that it is. I myself voted for Stolyarov, he is closer to me - also from energy. He worked at our enterprise. And everything in his biography was indicated (in the pre -election period, during the campaign - PP) as it was. His biography corresponds to reality. The fact that they said about the past of the mayor that he was from the criminal environment, and there was nothing like that about it, and that was so.
4) How do I know all this? I don’t remember anymore. Either I read it in the newspaper, or the men spoke, heard ... I also saw something on television, but only about two days about hunger strikes, as they began to show it all.
5) the common opinion that Bozhenov is from the criminal environment, from the bandits. I do not remember strong negativity from his reign, but there were, of course, arrears. Nothing was done with him, that is, it began and did not come to mind. Money from Moscow was somehow incomprehensibly spent-for construction there, for example. Although in recent years, two situations have improved: dilapidated housing has been demolished, people began to resettle. But this is possibly due to federal programs.
Irina, 40 years old, seller in a shoe store
1) I am an apolitical person, I do not climb into it and are not interested.
2) Sheinskaya hunger strike? I heard and I think that Shein is just pora. In general, I treat Shein as a comic character. His hunger strike is comical. You first go to the people - to the market, to the clinic - and ask if our hunger strike is interesting for us to organize it. And the fact that now on TV and in leaflets, I think this is just a PR.
3) I do not think that in the elections you can make so many falsifications that they were directly massive. You can still bribe one person, 10 bulletins will slip, but this is impossible to do throughout Astrakhan.
The bulk in our shopping center voted for Stolyarov, for example. People have no questions here. Yes, it would open - falsification. Our people are open, everyone is sharing with each other. After the election of the day, three were only talked about. We talked, told, and there were no questions. So he really won who the majority voted for.
4) I learned, but from people. From colleagues, from conversations.
5) I will not say anything bad about Bozhenov. As usual. Yes, everything is always fine with us! They make holidays, they invite stars - everything for people. Only with the roads the problem and with kindergartens, but this is so throughout Russia. Under Benzhenov, they made salutes, and they did the embankments, fountains - beauty has become! All summer there were some entertainment programs on weekends, we don’t drink my husband-we constantly went to these concerts.
Alexey, 42 years old, deputy director of a construction company
1) What is happening? Shein’s hunger strike with all the ensuing. Yes, I am in the know.
2) I do not believe that Shein will change something. As always, we will happen: it will either be bought by political opponents, or something else-in any case, he will not be the mayor. In addition to United Russia, we still have financial structures here that will not allow this. Stolyarov is a pawn. I have known him for fifteen years, he proved himself as a fraudster in the 90s. I personally know examples: my friends gave him bribes, made gifts. I put it on the wrong figure "EP". Everyone who in this city is at least somehow associated with energy, everyone knows about him.
About Shein, they say that he is an honest person. Well, how: he is personally a poor person-cottages, recreation centers, real estate he does not have any prestigious. But there are rumors that in the previous elections, Shein "leaked" the place of the mayor of Bozhenov for 250 thousand dollars. The financial structures allegedly bought it. Although he was then politically stronger than Bozhenov.
For Shein, the hunger strike is now practical. Well, what is he - to be a local deputy now? He has no choice but to do anything. But I do not believe that he will achieve something with his hunger strike. Perhaps it will somehow be bought-either financially, but rather by positions. They will offer him something in Moscow.
3) falsifications were, of course. We have friends - they worked as observers, there were a lot of violations. Shein had support. And who is Stolyarov? He was untwisted in 2 months, posters were divided. And Shein is a famous face. In our Cossack (Astrakhan - PP), everyone supported Shein.
5) Bozhenov established himself as a crook and a hapug. In construction, nothing was decided without it. I had to swim. I think in Volgograd he will not last long.
Natalia, 38 years old, owner of the flow of flowers
1) I don't know anything. I have a lot of work, I am here from morning to night, flowers require a lot of attention, and at home - children. Therefore, I have no time and is uninteresting to be interested in politics.
2) Shein? Hunger strike? I didn't even hear.
3) I did not go to the polls. I don’t even know who we have the mayor now. Those who are moving in this area should be interested in politics. This is not entirely feminine, women should have other priorities. I don't need it.
Konstantin, 22 years old, a bartender in a restaurant and a student of the journalism department
1) I am not interested in politics. I heard about Shein.
2) Why did Shein declared a hunger strike? I do not believe that he really wants to help people. I do not believe a single policy. Including Stolyarov. Yes, in general, all of ours, throughout Russia. All of them pursue their goals. So I watch, of course, news, but I do not believe. It’s all funny-a deed is some kind of business. And I do not believe that he is starving. For 4 weeks to starve and behave so aggressively, to speak there, something with the police had some kind of brawl ... This is impossible. This is not like a show, just some kind of deed. Power scolds each other, and all are the same.
3) the elections were falsified, yes. Maybe not everywhere, but a lot where. Maybe Shein won, maybe Stolyarov. But it seems to me that it doesn’t matter, nothing will change.
4) Sources of information - Internet and communication with people.
5) Before Bozhenov, all Astrakhan was in the collapse. The embankment was made with him, built a lot. There are no special complaints. He is the same as he was before him. But the city became more funny - you can go for a walk, embankment, fountains and so on.
Said, 50 years old, keys manufacturing master
1) I am outraged. What is happening now in Astrakhan. Firstly, there were dishonest elections. Whoever ask-they chose Shein, and for some reason they inserted another person who did not show himself. Shein always tried for ordinary people, helped. And this one came from - it is incomprehensible.
2) Shein is starving - a person has no other choice. Here, they spoke at the government level-it is already pleasing that they finally noticed. The fact that a person took such a step-I support him, because in this state in no other way. Only if you take the weapon and shoot, but this is not an option. I would like to believe that in the case of this hunger strike, justice will conquer in the end.
Shein fought with the former mayor, Bozhenov. In Benzhenov, lawlessness was happening. For example, we have robbed the "Selensky Gardens" in the market of the Selenic Gardens, we even guarded it at night so that our shops would not touch. In general, there was a mess. Shein fought against this with us. We sued the court several times, he helped us. Now the question with the market is frozen by the court, I do not know what will happen.
3) the elections were falsified. I would like to hold honest elections.
4) I use the Internet.
5) Bozhenov! I can't say anything good. His place is not in the chair of the governor, but behind bars.
Oksana, 38, wagons disinfector, Russian Railways
1) Shein is starving. I do not agree with the elections. I support him in this protest. I don't like anything in this power. And nobody likes it.
2) Shein is pretty like a person. Once I was at his reception, he helped me. And it helps others, some even financially, refugees there. I knocked out a refugee room.
3) the elections were falsified. How many years they have not allowed him to break out.
Anastasia, 25 years old, bank employee
1) I did not hear anything about politics (Shein, a hunger strike). We just work from 8 to 8, on television, the news does not have time left, and they don’t say anything on the radio (we have the radio constantly inclusive).
2) Shein’s hunger strike (after the story of the correspondent about the hunger strike, the arrival of oppositionists, etc.) seems implausible to me. When ordinary people strike and starve, because they do not pay salaries, everyone does not care. And he sat on a diet for 4 days there - and already Moscow stirred. That he is ready to die for the idea - I do not believe in it. If he does not achieve re -election, is he going to die? (Laughs.) Funny. This is attracting attention to yourself - and nothing more.
3) I participated in the elections, but I don’t remember who I voted for. And I went to the polls, well, it was necessary to cast your vote. I voted for Zhirinovsky and for the candidate from the LDPR in the municipal elections.
Daria, 42 years old, a researcher at the Research Institute
1) We now have active political events. The latest mayor’s elections are outrageous. I’m not talking about the president, everything was fine with the presidential, and the mayor’s elections are doubtful.
2) I do not trust Shein, like everyone else. But the fact that this was done with him is outrageous. They would give him to break through! This is not the first time for us. We know him. Stolyarov appeared during the election campaign, before that we knew nothing about him.
Shein’s hunger strike is his protest. And thank God that at least he is, we cannot express a protest, everyone is afraid for his own skin. What he does is respect, although there will be no result.
3) Of course, falsified. I think Shein won. I know this from those who took part in the elections, from observers. But now no one will say anything.
4) I know from people who were observers in the elections. After these stories, I now read it myself on the Internet. And television was generally silent, absolutely. They started talking a week ago, although Shein starves the 4th.
5) Bozhenov: He left - and thank God. Draw conclusions yourself.
Ekaterina, 25 years old, optics
1) I know nothing about political events.
3) I did not participate in the elections. Mayor now ... Zhilkin? No, I don't know. Bozhenov seemed to be. Surname by ear.
Andrey, 34 years old, chief energy of a commercial enterprise
1) rallies were planned (about a week ago), a hunger strike was planned. I don’t remember exactly when, to rallies, it seems.
2) Shein is our politician, his actions are heard, but it is difficult to say specifically, since I am not interested in politics. I heard about him in fragments that and there, but from these fits I do not draw conclusions, and I have not taken to it. I live my life, my worries, I (Politics - PP) do not discuss anyone with anyone. I have no time for it at all. A hunger strike, in my opinion, is a political game. To learn more about them, they sympathize more. Even if he lost - well, why is it? I think it was not needed.
3) I did not go to the elections, but to say that the elections are dishonest - this is also wrong. I saw how the election campaign passed - both Stolyarova and Sheina. Both that and the other had support. There are falsifications in any election, but even if there are falsifications, I would not say that the elections are dishonest, since Stolyarov had a powerful election campaign, and he could well win.
4) People said, they also gave me leaflets about rallies.
5) About Bozhenov, I do not advise you to write anything. And I will not say anything.
