
The former governor of the Tver region Vladimir Platov died at the age of 65. This was reported by the press service of the regional government. The causes of the death of the former governor are not specified.
Platov headed the Tver region from 1995 to 2003. In November 2005, he was condemned for five years in prison for abuse of authority, which caused the regions of damage in the amount of 475 million rubles. The court later reduced the sentence to three years conditionally. Platov himself did not admit his guilt and said that the process against him was fabricated to prevent him from participating in the governor's elections.
Platov worked at the Bezhetzkselmash and Auto -Obrooting plants. From 1992 to 1995, he headed the administration of the Bezhetsky district.
