The Party of People's Freedom ("Parnassus") will be registered on the basis of the Republican Party of Russia. Such a decision, as ITAR-TASS reports, was adopted by the Parnassus Federal Political Council.
The Party of People’s Freedom, the co-chairs of which are ex-Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, as well as Vladimir Ryzhkov and Boris Nemtsov, was created about two years ago, but she could not receive official registration in the Ministry of Justice.
At the same time, the Republican Party, headed by Vladimir Ryzhkov, has every chance of being included in the state register. At the beginning of the year, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation canceled its previous decision on the liquidation of the party. She was deprived of registration in 2007 as not meeting the requirements of the legislation on the number. The European Court of Human Rights, where the Republicans also appealed, recognized the decision to liquidate the party illegal.
A month ago, the head of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Alexander Konovalov, said that the restoration of the registration of the Republican Party of Russia in the State Register of Legal Entities is a matter of the next weeks.
Ryzhkov himself in an interview with Echo of Moscow confirmed the accession of Parnas to the Republican Party and said that the movement in this case will receive a new name.
The co -chair of the Republican Party Valentina Melnikova is pleased with the decision of Parnas. "I am glad that the Republican Party will become a platform for a large democratic party," she said.
Mikhail Kasyanov assured that the updated party will become the ideological successor of Parnas. “Our task will be the struggle for freedom, against corruption,” he emphasized. As for the name, the decision on this will be made by a congress, which will be held no later than July 8.
As Kasyanov emphasized, the party expects to take part in the autumn regional elections. "Registration is needed in order to get admission to the elections," he said.
