
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev by signing a decree on the pardon of Sergei Mokhnactin, convicted by 2.5 years in 2010 for an attack on a policeman during a campaign on the triumphal square on December 31. The document is published on the portal of legal information. The decree states that the president decided to have mercy on Mokhnatkin, "guided by the principles of humanity."
According to the case materials, during the dispersal of a rally on the triumphal square, a 56-year-old resident of Tver Sergei Mokhnatkin hit an employee of the police with his head in his face and broke his nose. Mokhnatkin himself says that he was accidentally on Tverskaya Square and simply stood up for the woman who was beaten by the policeman.
The term of Sergei Mokhnatkin ended in November. On April 20, it became known that the colony administration transferred him to an internal prison for a period of six months, that is, almost before the end of the sentence. Mokhnatkin was sent to prison “For repeated violation of the regime of detention” after he refused to work.
