Tymoshenko announced a hunger strike

Ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, serving a sentence in a colony in Kharkov, announced a hunger strike, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Tymoshenko lawyer Sergei Vlasenko. "In protest against what is happening in Ukraine, Julia Vladimirovna announces a hunger strike," he said. According to the defender, the ex-prime minister is now drinking only water.

Vlasenko said that the hunger strike Tymoshenko would last until political repression will stop in Ukraine. " The ex-Prime Minister, who was imprisoned, said that she began the hunger strike on April 20 in order to attract the attention of the world community to what is happening in Ukraine.

"I stopped eating on April 20 only for the sake of one goal: to attract the attention of the democratic world to what is happening in the center of Europe, in the country called Ukraine. And the question is not in the fate of modern Ukrainian political prisoners, we are ready to go our way with dignity. The problem is in the understanding that the current president of Ukraine is building a concentration of violence and biases in the center of Europe," the application says in the appeal Tymoshenko, who was read out by her ally, MP Sergei Pashinsky.

“It is necessary to urgently realize this tragic state of affairs and immediately stop it, applying all the methods - both Ukrainian and international,” the ex -prime minister said in circulation. In turn, Pashinsky noted that Tymoshenko's associates against her decision to starve.

Tymoshenko in October 2011 was sentenced to seven years in prison for abuse of authority when signing a gas agreement with Russia in 2009. Since the end of December, she is serving a term in a colony in Kharkov. On April 19, the Kiev District Court of Kharkov began consideration of the second case against Tymoshenko, which concerns the alleged financial frauds when the head of the Corporation "Unified Energy Systems of Ukraine" in the 1990s.

Tymoshenko, in which doctors identified problems with his back, was transferred from the colony to the clinic of Ukrzaliznytsia last Friday. She did not give written consent to the transfer. The ex-Prime Minister refused the services of doctors, and on Sunday she was returned to the colony.

Tymoshenko filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office of the Kharkov region, in which she stated that during transportation to the hospital, physical impact was applied to her. The prosecutor’s office conducted an audit, which showed that the facts set forth in Tymoshenko’s statement are not confirmed. At the same time, the defender Tymoshenko Sergey Vlasenko claims that the physical impact was applied to Tymoshenko, from which the ex-prime minister of the hematoma on his stomach and bruising on his hands. The authorities once again refuted information about the physical impact in relation to Tymoshenko.

“There were no traces of beating on the visible areas of the body,” said Dmitry Kurushin, head of the health department of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine in the Kharkov Region. The deputy head of the Kachanovsky colony, Igor Kovpashchikov, answering the question of the hunger strike Tymoshenko, noted that the ex-Prime Minister did not declare this in writing.
