Medvedev: Doctors and teachers must study abroad

President Dmitry Medvedev suggested sending doctors and teachers abroad to improve their qualifications. Speaking at an expanded meeting of the State Council, the head of state said that a “significant number” of specialists should be sent abroad, but only on condition that they will return to Russia. The president’s speech was broadcast on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

"In Russian universities, the training and retraining of personnel will begin for key, most popular specialties in accordance with new standards. For this, leading domestic specialists should be involved, including those who have undergone training abroad, as well as foreign highly qualified professionals. In addition, a significant number of doctors and teachers should be sent to study in other countries, but, of course, with the condition of returning to work in work to work in Russia, ”Medvedev said.

According to Lenta.ru, a program is currently being prepared in Russia, according to which the state will undertake to pay for the most talented students training abroad, and they will act on their own. This program has been developed by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, it should begin to operate since 2013.

Medvedev also stated that five Russian universities should enter the first hundred main world ratings. "At least five Russian universities should be included in the first hundred main world ratings. This will mean the general rise in our education," Medvedev said.

In March, great public resonance caused the news that no Russian University was included in the annual reputation of the world universities of the World Reputation Rankings of the British newspaper Times. The rating was compiled by the Times - Times Higher Education newspaper in the world, with the participation of the Thomson Reuters information group and the IPSOS Media public opinion study services. A year ago, the only Russian university in the TOP-100 became Moscow State University (33rd place). This year he did not enter the list.
