In the Arkhangelsk region, for the first time, participants in actions aimed at promoting homosexuality among minors were brought to justice, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office reports.

Interfax recalls that in October 2011, amendments to the legislation came into force in Pomorie prohibiting the holding of public events aimed at promoting homosexuality among minors.

The prosecutor's office notes that after the introduction of the law, activists of social movements repeatedly committed actions in Arkhangelsk aimed at promoting homosexuality "by displaying posters of characteristic content near the building of the children's library named after A.P. Gaidar." According to the prosecutor's office, the illegal events were deliberately organized during the daytime, when children were visiting the library.

Previously, police officers limited themselves to “talking” with violators without drawing up a report on an administrative offense. In this regard, the prosecutor's office demanded that the chief of the city police eliminate the violation of the law.

“When committing repeated actions, three violators, at the initiative of the police, were brought to administrative responsibility by the magistrate,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. The organizer of the event was fined 2 thousand rubles, and the remaining offenders (the total number was not disclosed) were fined 1,800 rubles.

Laws banning the promotion of homosexuality among minors also came into force in the Ryazan and Kostroma regions, as well as St. Petersburg. In addition, on March 28, a bill was introduced into the State Duma proposing to ban gay propaganda at the federal level.

The European Parliament, in its resolutions of December 14, 2011 and February 14, 2012, condemned these laws. In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the laws do not violate the country’s international obligations.

In Pomorie, a fine was issued for the first time for promoting homosexuality
