President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the early termination of powers of the Governor of the Perm Territory Oleg Chirkunov at the latter’s own request, the Kremlin press service reported on Saturday.
By the same decree, Viktor Basargin was appointed acting governor of the region. At the same time, Medvedev dismissed Basargin from the post of Minister of Regional Development of Russia.
Oleg Chirkunov has served as acting governor of the Perm region since March 2004, and in December 2005 he was officially approved for this post.
Viktor Basargin has headed the Ministry of Regional Development since October 2008.
