Russian banker German Gorbuntsov, seriously wounded during an assassination attempt in London on March 20, told who was behind his attempt on his life. The first interview after leaving the coma, he gave the British newspaper Daily Mail , mentioning the name of Vladimir Putin during the story about the motives of customers.
The attempt on the 45-year-old Gorbuntsov was committed on March 20, when he entered the entrance of the house where he lives, on the dog island in the Kanari-Uorf business area in the east of the British capital. They shot at the banker six times, he was hospitalized and later introduced into a state of artificial coma. Initially, his chances to survive were evaluated as low, but now nothing threatens his life. Armed security was assigned to him, while the authorities keep secret in which hospital they contain him. No detentions in this case were made, RIA Novosti notes.
The publication reports that the banker told the police the names of four business partners, but by law there is no right to call their media. In an interview with the British newspaper, Gorbuntsov said: “I believe that the attempt to kill me was organized by the same people who tried to seize my assets four years ago ... Our lawyers handed over to British investigators that they clearly indicate the motives of the suspects. They are the only ones who had a serious motive. I don’t know who, besides them, could want my death.”
Gorbuntsov and his wife Larisa, recalling the events of four years ago, reported that these people wanted to force multimillion -dollar assets under the muzzle of a pistol. And a man with a pistol called on the phone to keep up with a certain official, "close to the inner circle of Vladimir Putin."
Gorbuntsov is sure that the attempt on him is connected with the consent to testify to Russian investigators leading the case of the attempt on his former business partner, the co-owner of the Conversion Group, Alexander Antonov. “I relaxed in London, decided that the threat passed. I agreed to testify, and in less than a month later they shot me,” said Gorbuntsov.
The banker also stated that he intends to ask for political asylum in the UK. “I do not see another opportunity to protect myself and my family. I said many times that they would kill me if I get together in Russia. The incident with me proved that in London (also) it is not entirely safe, but I still feel more safety here than anywhere else,” the banker explained his decision.
The attempt on Alexander Antonov was committed in Moscow in March 2009, he was injured, but survived, reminds Lenta.ru . Contractors of the assassination - residents of Chechnya Aslanbek Dadaev, Elim Pasha Hatsuev and Timur Isaev - have already been convicted. They were also found guilty of the murder of ex-deputy of the State Duma Ruslan Yamadayev. Customers of the assassination attempt on Antonov and the murder of Yamadayev could not be installed.
