The European Commission is preparing a new plan for salvation of the eurozone, designed to revive economic growth in countries that have suffered from tight economy measures, Reuters reports with reference to the Spanish media. This project, which has not yet been mentioned yet, has already received the name of the new "Marshall Plan" - by analogy with the American plan for assistance to European countries, which suffered greatly as a result of World War II.
In the economies of 27 euros member states, 200 billion euros will be invested, RBC reports. Investments will be aimed at developing infrastructure, renewable sources of energy and high technologies. It is expected that the plan will be presented at the nearest EU summit, which will be held on June 28-29 in Brussels.
It is noteworthy that the plan includes the ideas of French presidential candidate Francois Hollande, who, according to polls, will soon replace Nicolas Sarkozy as the head of state. Hollande suggested resorting to unused resources of the European Investment Bank.
It is assumed that the EU countries will make a one -time contribution totaling 10 billion euros to the bank's recapitalization, thereby increasing its creditworthiness by 60 billion euros and opening the possibility for investment in the amount of 180 billion.
In addition, the option of obtaining funds from private investors under guarantees of the European financial stability mechanism (EFSM) is considered, RIA Novosti points out. In this case, it is supposed to use 12 billion euros, which EFSM did not use to assist in overcoming the debt crisis to such countries of the Eurozone as Greece, Portugal and Ireland. This amount will serve as a financial lever to attract at least 200 billion euros of private capital.
Comparison with the Marshall Plan, proposed by US Secretary of State George Marshall, can be considered flattering for the European Commission. The generous American injections, which began in 1948, helped the restoration of the European economy, trade and infrastructure. Thanks to the indicated plan, the post -war West Germany was able to turn into one of the advanced industrial powers. Great Britain and France are also considerable.
