The US intelligence services managed to disclose a conspiracy, the participants of which intended to blow up the bridge in the vicinity of the city of Cleveland in Ohio. This, as RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Associated Press, was announced by representatives of the American Ministry of Justice.
Five people suspected of terrorist activity were detained. The alleged terrorists were detained during the FBI special operation on Monday while trying to blow up the bridge near Cleveland. They will appear before the federal court in Cleveland on the next Tuesday.
According to representatives of the special services, the criminal plan was doomed to failure in advance, since the FBI agent, who worked under the cover, was introduced into the ranks of the terrorists, thanks to which the attackers were equipped with faulty explosive devices.
"People who planned this crime intended to express their ideological views in the form of violence," said the representative of the FBI Stefan Anthony.
Presumably, the detainees are not related to international terrorism, their plan was not dedicated to the anniversary of the death of the founder of Al-Kaeda, Usama Ben Laden, who was liquidated by American special forces in Pakistan last May 1 last year.
It is reported that the detainees, whose age varies from 20 to 35 years old, call themselves anarchists and claim that they are not associated with any international terrorist organizations. However, in relation to two "self -proclaimed anarchists", special services have doubts.
