In Kostroma water, the content of aluminum is three times higher

In Kostroma, the content of aluminum in tap water almost three times exceeded the permissible concentrations, RIA Novosti told the senior assistant to the head of the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Olga Vakurova.

“We received the results of water samples made on the water utility on April 30. The results showed that the water generally corresponds to the norm, but it notes the exceeding maximum permissible concentrations for the aluminum content almost three times. With a rate of 0.5 milligrams for a cubic decimeter, the result was 1.3 milligrams,” Vakurova explained.

According to her, on this fact, the investigation was assigned a check during which it is necessary to find out whether this concentration of aluminum was a danger to the life and health of the population. If doctors conclude that such a amount of metal in water is dangerous, then the investigation may make a decision to initiate a criminal case under the article "The provision of services that do not meet security requirements". The maximum sanction of this article provides for ten years of conclusion.

“Now we are preparing information and we will take measures for the water utility,” said Alla Kitaeva, head of the sanitary supervision of Rospotrebnadzor.

The quality of water water in Kostroma deteriorated sharply - the water became muddy and acquired a musty smell - on the night of Sunday, April 29, on Monday, April 30. It was then, as the authorities explained, stagnant water from the Rybinsk reservoir began to flow into the Volga River in the Kostroma River.

“Due to the fact that the water lift is high, the Rybinsk reservoir dumped water, the quality of which differs markedly from the quality of running Volga water. This water is musty, rotten, completely different quality,” said the head of the city Yuri Zhurin. At the same time, he clarified that the employees of the water utility when cleaning the water that is supplied to the population began to add more coagulant containing aluminum. However, a liquid coagulant was used, which turned out to be ineffective for water purification with such a chemical composition.

Meanwhile, in the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, they previously assured that according to physicochemical and bacteriological indicators, drinking water in Kostroma corresponds to sanitary standards and rules, but it has an unpleasant odor and sour taste. The population was recommended before use to boil water for 3-5 minutes.
