A criminal case has been opened against my fellow NBP member, fellow countryman, colleague from Novaya Gazeta and Ryazan regional leader of the Other Russia, Sergei Yezhov. He faces up to two years in prison.
The case is 100% fabricated. The customer, apparently, is the governor of the Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev, and the contractor is the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. If the Ryazan governor has the strength and intelligence to dissuade us of the opposite, we will only be glad. If it’s not enough, we’ll do everything to make him unhappy with everything that’s happening.
For reference: Yezhov sharply criticized Kovalev in his journalistic publications, accusing him of corruption and inability to cope with his responsibilities. Yezhov was also the organizer of numerous protests demanding the resignation of the governor. The Ryazan authorities are especially irritated by Yezhov’s struggle against the privatization of MUPs (municipal unitary enterprises).

“On May 2, 2012, at about 20:30, on Pochtovaya Street in Ryazan, an attack was committed on employees of the Ryazan Novaya Gazeta - editor-in-chief Alexei Frolov, his deputy Roman Sivtsov and me, a columnist for this publication.
There were three attackers.
The police officers who were nearby from the very beginning stopped the attack and put two of the attackers into an official car (one ran away). However, the attackers were never taken to police station No. 1 - they were released along the way.
We arrived at the OP No. 1 for servicing the Soviet district of Ryazan on our own and wrote a statement about the commission of a crime with a request to punish the perpetrators. At the police department I felt bad, an ambulance arrived and took me to the OKB, where I was diagnosed with a concussion and bruises of the soft tissues of the head.
The editors of Novaya Gazeta immediately assumed that the purpose of the attack was to provoke me and my colleagues for subsequent prosecution. There is reason to believe that police officers may be involved in the provocation.
On the evening of May 4, I was detained at a traffic police checkpoint at the exit from the city towards Moscow. The employees, having checked the details of my documents against a certain “base”, reported that I was on the wanted list. The arriving police officers took me to OP No. 1.
On the night of May 4-5, I was interrogated by the investigator of OD No. 1, police lieutenant P.E. Saksonov. as a suspect. It turned out that after the events of May 2, one of those who attacked us filed a statement alleging harm to his health, and investigator Saksonov opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of minor harm to health”). I was brought in as a suspect."
