The family of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will independently pay for her treatment in a Kharkov hospital, which is being conducted under the guidance of German specialist Lutz Harms. , the ex-Prime Minister's lawyer Sergei Vlasenko said this As reported by Interfax-Ukraine .

On April 8, First Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Raisa Moiseenko claimed that the services of the doctor at the Charite clinic, who is involved in the treatment of Tymoshenko, will be paid for by the Kharkov regional state administration. At a briefing on May 11, Vlasenko called this statement “provocative.”

“No administration, Kharkov or any other, should or will pay for this,” the Verkhovna Rada deputy emphasized. He added that the ex-prime minister's family decided to pay off the bill issued by the Charité hospital "to avoid insinuations and speculation on this issue."

Tymoshenko is currently serving a seven-year sentence in the Kachanovskaya colony in Kharkov in the so-called “gas case” (for concluding gas contracts with Russia that are unfavorable for Ukraine). The former prime minister's associates have repeatedly stated that her health has deteriorated significantly in custody. As reported, Tymoshenko experiences severe back pain and cannot get out of bed. The Ukrainian Ministry of Health has repeatedly denied this information.

At the beginning of this year, an international commission was created to examine the ex-prime minister, which included German and Canadian doctors. Doctors from the Berlin Charité clinic who participated in the examination recently announced Tymoshenko’s diagnosis: a chronic herniated disc.

In April, Ukrainian authorities proposed transporting the ex-prime minister to the Central Railway Hospital in Kharkov. The first attempt to do this turned into a scandal - on April 21, the prisoner was taken to a medical facility, but the very next day she was returned to the colony. Tymoshenko later claimed that she was taken to the hospital by force, and that during the escort she was beaten by colony officers. Protesting against the actions of correctional facility workers, the former prime minister went on a hunger strike that lasted about three weeks.

The fact that Tymoshenko began to eat food became known on May 9. At the same time, the former prime minister was again transferred to the hospital (with her official consent).

As reported, in addition to Kharms, a neurologist at the Central Railway Hospital of Kharkov, Irina Fursa, is currently involved in the treatment of Tymoshenko. However, the treatment tactics are determined by a German doctor. He also brought with him from Germany all the necessary medicines.

Tymoshenko's treatment will be paid for by her family
