Battle for Stone Bridge

A few thoughts about the events of May 6.

The holiday is ruined. The center of the capital was under martial law. Metro stations were closed, people were caught on the streets. The inauguration took place alone.

Boring rallies are no longer interesting to anyone. People managed to escape from the notorious Swamp, leaving the stage with listless speakers alone. In history, this day will be famous for the Battle of the Stone Bridge.

The myth of liberals about their unwillingness to take radical action has been dispelled. It only took a small spark, a small push, for people to happily sweep away the metal detectors and stage a sit-in.

Over the years of resistance to the police state in Russia, a whole generation of violent people has emerged. They are not fooled by mantras about batons and are not afraid to enter into open confrontation with police forces. Several thousand people who occupied the Stone Bridge are proof of this.

Some liberal figures, in convulsive fear for their own asses, have already rushed to call the people who entered into battle with the police provocateurs. Lovers of beautiful conversation, infinitely far from the people, they never understood that these were their fellow citizens thirsting for decisive action.

In the conditions when the “swamp leaders” were captured, people were able to organize themselves and continue to resist the police forces.

The events of May 6 brought together people of very different beliefs. For the first time in many years, people were able to overcome their ideological differences and personal animosity in the face of a common enemy - the police state. Participants of Strategy 31, right-wing and anti-fascists, LGBT activists, forest defenders and Pussy Riot supporters fought side by side with the police.

The battle for the Stone Bridge will frighten and excite the minds of the presidential administration. As soon as the hype subsides, intrigue and criminal cases will begin. They will try to quarrel and intimidate, separate and fragment this heterogeneous brotherhood of radicals. It's still just beginning.
