History teaches us nothing

Hi all!

Recently, I have acquired a large number of volunteer “advisers” who know exactly what I urgently need to do, what to talk about, where to go and what to participate in. Interestingly, they are even more aware of what I am doing at the moment than I am. I thank them all in advance, but I make decisions in any situation myself and act based on considerations of practical expediency, and not emotions.

I really didn’t want to comment on the latest events, since it is difficult for a sane person to assess what is happening in a madhouse; but I still couldn’t resist. The conclusion is obvious: we are going crazy out of the blue! People are angry and teased by the way the authorities are building a layered defense, fielding almost an entire army against citizens. The lack of ideas and plan pushes opposition leaders to respond with violent actions, often meaningless in both form and content, which further inflame and provoke the authorities. The authorities are provoked and in three days they bring the situation to the point of absurdity - they block the streets, grab people in cafes, in public gardens, in squares (even the paddy wagons are gone!).

History, alas, teaches us nothing (maybe because, starting with Ivan the Terrible, we have always rewritten it “a little” for convenience?!). Again, everything was mixed up in our heads, and how many times in our history has this “everything” negated the positive development of the country and thrown us into the abyss! Some are “on principle” starving for a mandate to the State Duma, others, inspired by revolutionary sentiments and media attention, are ready for radical street actions, and the authorities, reacting in this way to the protesters, in fact, themselves raise the topic of legitimacy in a new round, but this is no longer a question about the legitimacy of elections and the relationship between society and government, but about arbitrary force, about illegal actions of those who are obliged to defend the law, about the escalation of tension and violence.

It seems to me that we need to stop having a dialogue between the “deaf and the blind.” Personally, I will first of all maintain common sense and think not about personal ambitions, but about the fate of our citizens and the country as a whole. We all now need to restore calm in our heads and in our cities. There are no enemies here, ours or not. Everyone here is their own, and the authorities must remember that they are responsible for the safety of all Russian citizens - whether they voted for this government or not.
