Pastor Maldonado for the first time in his career won the Formula 1 stage

The Williams pilot Pastor Maldonado for the first time in his career became the winner of the Grand Prix of Spain, which took place as part of the fifth stage of the Formula 1 championship.

The Venezuech on Saturday qualification showed the second time, but in the race he started from the first position, since the owner of Powul Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) was excluded from the protocol for stopping the car at the end of the session and was forced to start the latter.

Thus, Maldonado brought Williams the first victory since 2004.

“A wonderful day! Not only for me, but for the whole team. We worked hard from last year, trying to progress from race to race - and here is the result. Yesterday we have been qualifying and today achieved success,” the happy winner told reporters after the race.

The second in Barcelona finished the Ferrari pilot Fernando Alonso, and the third became Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus).

Russian Vitaly Petrov ("Katerham") completed the race in the 17th position, his partner on the command of Hake Kovalainen was located above.

After the fifth stage in the overall standings, the current world champion Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull and the two -time world champion Fernando Alonso from Ferrari, having 61 points, are leading. Lewis Hamilton - third (53), Kimi Raikkonen - fourth (49), Mark Webber - Fifth (48).
