Recently, the opposition-minded part of society has been experiencing an obvious “crisis of the genre.” That is, it is certainly obvious to everyone that the “festivities” will not end in anything other than further polarization of society. The level of intransigence in society is growing right before our eyes, people are beginning to “choke at the bit” and completely lose their sense of reality. We are all moving at rapid speed to the line beyond which dialogue will no longer be possible, and only a forceful solution to the issue will remain. Alas, this is precisely what some opposition leaders are leading to, consciously or unconsciously, which, in general, is not surprising, since they have specific political interests, and their personal benefits are obvious.
Another thing is surprising - the short-sightedness of opposition movement activists who do not understand that their interests and the interests of their leaders simply, by definition, cannot coincide. The goal of the opposition leaders is to come to power, the goal of ordinary oppositionists (if they are mentally healthy is to improve life in the country, and what the name of the president will be is case 125). Opposition leaders need to somehow get out of the “crisis of the genre,” so they are completely satisfied with the escalation of tension, which, on the one hand, unites the ranks of their supporters, and on the other hand, creates for them the image of “suffering for the truth.” Ordinary members will not receive any effect other than bodily harm, and the sooner they understand this, the better. It sounds banal - but life in most cases is very banal and simple (no need to have any illusions). The opposition needs to understand a simple thing: Putin himself will not leave!!! He himself will not leave either in 6 years or in 12. Even if the opposition turns the entire boulevard ring into a tent camp in which a million people will sit indefinitely, even if protests attract 5 million people each and completely paralyze all movement in Moscow, even if public television shows his home video with Alina Kabaeva, even if newspapers regularly publish information about his offshore accounts, even if the opposition wins all municipal elections throughout the country, HE STILL WILL NOT LEAVE!!!
There are only two options for exiting the current situation and changing the political regime:
1). If he is overthrown by force and killed (like Gaddafi). Under pressure from a peaceful social process (like Mubarak), he will never leave!
2). If a public consensus is reached that will allow him to leave with honor, preserving all regalia, property and ensuring complete safety for himself and his surroundings.
After understanding these options, oppositionists need to answer a simple question: which of these options will bring greater benefit to the country? The answer is obvious. Of course the second one! I'm not even talking about the fact that the first option is very difficult to implement, will lead to a huge number of victims and other aspects. I’m just asking which option is simply more profitable, and the answer is obvious - the second, well, because the first option, even if successfully implemented, can lead to an even greater deterioration of the situation.
Therefore, it seems to me that those who are real opposition, and not politicking democrats (or provocateurs), should work to implement the second option, or at least not worsen the situation. In this regard, Prokhorov’s position seems very balanced and sober to me. It is around him that mentally healthy opposition forces should concentrate.
