Appeal to the residents of the Kurtatinsky Gorge

APPEAL TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE KURTATA GORGE, AS WELL AS TO ALL RESIDENTS OF THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH OSSETIA-ALANIA

Among the residents of our republic, there is probably not a single person who has not at least once passed by the Kurt and Tag tower, which stands high above the Kurtatinsky gorge in the village of Wallagsykh. Legends attribute this tower to two brothers, the founders of the Kurtatin and Tagaur societies. More than 100 surnames in North Ossetia trace their genealogy back to these two brothers.

Many people know that the tower is in disrepair. 05/08/2012 by restoration architect, chief architect of the Spetsproektrestavratsiya projects V.A. Kuzmin inspected the tower, after which he gave a conclusion and recommendations for emergency response work. Unfortunately, the first line of this conclusion was the following conclusion: “The monument is in disrepair and requires urgent work to strengthen and preserve it.” The Kurta Tower is truly the pearl of the Kurtatinsky gorge, the object of close attention of guests of our republic, a family tower for many Kurtatins and Tagaurians, our national treasure, in the end. But if we do not carry out emergency and conservation work on it now, then 26 cracks and constant collapses of the rocky platform underneath will complete their work and the tower will collapse. We have very little time left, one summer. The tower may not survive next winter. We have already lost one tower from this architectural complex, we have no right to lose the second. According to experts, 2 million rubles are needed to carry out work to strengthen the Kurt Tower. The ministries and departments responsible for culture in our republic do not have them, and there is no point in blaming them for this.

But we, the residents of our republic, are quite capable of finding such money. At least so that our children and grandchildren, just like we do now, can in the future admire the tower on a high cliff above the Kurtatinsky Gorge, knowing that they are worthy of their ancestors who built this tower many centuries ago.
