Deputies of the State Assembly of Mordovia at a meeting on Monday, May 14, approved the candidacy of Vladimir Volkov for the post of head of the republic, an Interfax agency correspondent reported.
The inauguration of the new head of the republic immediately took place.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the early termination of the powers of the head of Mordovia, Nikolai Merkushkin, appointing him acting governor of the Samara region.
