The EU naval forces held their first raid in places where Somali pirates are based. As a result of the operation, several boats were destroyed, BBC reports on Tuesday.
The military was delivered to pirate bases near the Port of Nakharkhir on helicopters. Two vessels, which were supposed to block light pirate boats, acted as support from the water.
The command of the command says that not one of the participants in the operation was injured - however, like local residents. The purpose of the raid, which was carried out with the permission of the Somali authorities, was to deprive the pirates of refuge on land.
It should be noted that at the moment there are about 17 ships in captivity of Somali pirates - sea robbers require fabulous ransom for them.
At the same time, it was previously reported that over the first quarter of this year, the number of pirates attacks decreased by 28% - mainly thanks to international patrols that restrain the activity of Somali pirates.
