On the third evening, activists with white ribbons gathered on the embankment. The company, as expected on weekdays, was not large. But it turned out to be very fun, cozy and kind.
We read poetry. Today was an evening dedicated to the works of Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Everyone liked it. People passing by stopped. We listened. I think that from the outside, everything that was happening looked quite exotic for young people and nostalgically familiar for the older generation.
Maybe someone remembered the time of the sixties, which had its own romanticism and novelty. Oddly enough, the poems that sounded over the Volga did not seem like something old, distant and unfashionable. At any time, universal values and concepts remain unchanged and do not lose their meaning and relevance in any era.
So, the forgotten goodness has found life again. For a long time or not, it’s hard to say. Let's hope that the summer of 2012 will become, in this sense, the time for the birth of their “foremen” in different parts of our Motherland.
Towards the end of the walk, they decided to dilute the lyrical atmosphere with poems by Dmitry Bykov from the project “Citizen Poet”. We read a poem by Yevtushenko (again!) about the hunger strike in Astrakhan, revised by Bykov, and several more from the same series.
