Fortuna won in Berlin with a score of 2:1, and in Düsseldorf they drew 2:2 with Hertha. During the second half, fans of the Berlin team threw firecrackers at the field, and shortly before the end of the game, Fortuna fans ran onto the field. The referee decided to take the teams off the field while the police dealt with the troublemakers.
After 20 minutes the football match was continued and ended in a draw. Düsseldorf fans once again ran onto the pitch to celebrate Fortuna's return to the elite division after a 15-year absence.
