For the second year in a row, Forbes magazine's list of the world's most powerful celebrities is ranked first by a non-legendary TV personality, Oprah Winfrey. Last year, she was pushed into second place by singer Lady Gaga. This year, actress and singer Jennifer Lopez, who a year ago was in 50th place, burst into first place in the ranking. The traditional participant in this ranking, tennis player Maria Sharapova, also improved her position and took 71st place.

The Celebrity 100 list of the most influential celebrities has been published for 30 years. When assessing the degree of influence of a particular celebrity, the authors of the rating take into account several indicators, including the amount of money earned per year, the frequency of mentions in the press and the Internet, the frequency of appearances on television, and the number of fans on social networks.

Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez managed to do the almost impossible this year - to rise from 50th place in the ranking to 1st. It took very little: getting a divorce and becoming a member of the jury of the American Idol music competition. As a single mother, the media began to mention her more often, and thanks to her work on the jury, she began to appear on screen more often. And although over the past year Jennifer Lopez earned three times less than TV presenter Oprah Winfrey, she was able to take 1st place. Third place was again taken by 18-year-old Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who, thanks to successful concerts and a new album, earned $90 million in a year. They were followed by singer Rihanna, who first entered this ranking thanks to a number of hits and several lucrative advertising contracts; last year's ranking leader, singer Lady Gaga; Britney Spears, who was absent from the ranking last year, made up for lost time and managed to perform 75 times during the year; fashion model Kim Kardashian, who was also helped by divorce and then increased media attention; singer Katy Perry, who reached the level of fame of Michael Jackson: five songs from one of her albums became number one hits; actor Tom Cruise, who completed another impossible mission, and film director Steven Spielberg, who received a lot of help from his film studio DreamWorks with new shows, as well as new films.

Tennis player Maria Sharapova, who last year ranked 80th and earned $24 million, this year moved to 71st place with $26 million. At the same time, the driver of her popularity is not her sporting achievements, but advertising contracts, for example with Evian, Head, Nike, Samsung, Tag Heuer and Tiffany, as well as selling Maria Sharapova Collection clothing and the Cole Haan line of shoes and accessories, which she herself designed.
