Putin accepted the resignation of the governor of the Irkutsk region Mezentsev at his own request

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the early termination of the powers of the governor of the Irkutsk region Dmitry Mezentsev, Interfax reports citing the Kremlin press service on Friday, May 18.

"In connection with the statement of the Governor of the Irkutsk Region D. Mezentsev on the early termination of powers and in accordance with subparagraph "c" of paragraph 1 of Article 19 of the Federal Law of October 6, 1999 No. 184-FZ "On the general principles of the organization of legislative (representative) and executive state authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, “I decide to accept the resignation of the governor,” the text of the decree says.
