Sometimes you watch a film and think, God, this is so embarrassing, I wish I could, but what about the director? But thank God, yesterday there were no such films on the next “Free Screen” . Although it could have been. After all, I often think about this, films come to us almost without a filter, literally 99% of those interested participate. But this is the most interesting thing.
Once upon a time, one smart cinematographer told us, student directors, that in Russia there is a great lack of, first of all, category “B” films, that is, perhaps there is no need even for brilliant films, as was the case in the past, and certainly not Moreover, poorly made and rarely funny modern comedies do not benefit culture and cinema. We feel the need for a good, solid, competently and firmly made movie, about life, about love, about anything.
The idea, in my opinion, is infinitely correct. Moreover, screenings of author’s short films are, in my opinion, of great importance. Even yesterday, if we take the screening as a whole, there was some absolutely wild scattering of films: naked women (however, young and beautiful), who were showing, and immediately talking about what they were showing (although, it would seem, this is unnecessary ), and crazy trash comedies, from which at first you laugh until you cry, and then it becomes no longer funny, from such and such, and the poignant picture “Rada” about a dog, crippled and abandoned to the mercy of a huge highway.
However, there was a picture, in my humble opinion, the most amazing, or rather, it shocked me in a way that a short film had not done this to me for a long time. And the funny thing is that it wasn’t even a film, but a cinematic sketch, the first student work of an inexperienced director.

The film "Breakfast" by Roman Bauer made me shudder, although even the director himself could not even imagine such an effect. Although... Well, he showed me the picture. Judge for yourself, by the way (see link above), I am incredibly interested in other opinions. Maybe I was wrong, maybe this topic is too close to me, so close that I’m losing the ability to think somewhere here?
But this is doubly interesting. An occasion (and Friday has nothing to do with it) to seriously think about yourself, about your soul and about something important. Yes, and cinema provokes this.
What does a naked woman have to do with it? Well, it just always seemed to me that our soul is like a naked woman somewhere deep inside us - it’s hard to see, it’s frank, shy and beautiful.
This was the show. Unexpected, in every sense of the word.
