Walk for Freedom of Assembly

The artists' walk along the boulevards of the capital as part of the "Nomadic Museum of Contemporary Art" brought together several thousand connoisseurs of contemporary art. Young and not so young authors brought their works for the walk. A little late, I had to run through this entire art caravan stretching along the boulevards in search of my comrades. What was not there! Someone was rolling a model of a tank with the inscription “peace to peace!”, someone was carrying a pile of gloves on a cart. The organizer of the festivities, Yuri Samodurov, rolled a piano along the boulevards in a company of like-minded people. There were also some very intricate works.

Having reached the beginning of the procession, I met my fellow National Bolsheviks there, led by the Israeli artist Igor Cherchenko. Since Igor was not burdened with bulky structures and carts, but brought with him only a modest drawing, it goes without saying that our group ended up at the head of the walkers.

Igor Cherchenko took to the boulevards wearing a T-shirt with the logo of Strategy 31, devoting his walk to the problem of freedom of assembly. He knows about her firsthand. Igor was detained more than once in Russia during exhibitions. So, in February 2010, he was detained at the live exhibition “ My Northern Country ”, which was held on Triumphal Square. A year later, Igor was detained during the event “ Congratulate Taisiya Osipova! ”, which took place at the Solovetsky Stone. He staged an impromptu exhibition near the stone, hanging on the police fence watercolors he painted in Smolensk during the trial. In Israel, where Igor is the organizer of Strategy-31, his actions take place without arrests.

During the procession along the boulevards, Igor took with him a small drawing he made based on one of the actions on Triumphal Square - “Man with the Constitution”. However, this time he was not detained. Our comrade who was handing out invitations for May 31 was detained. After several hours at the Tverskoye police station, he was released with a report under Article 20.2.

Having reached Strastnoy Boulevard, the artists turned to the Museum of Modern Art, where they completed their walk.
